I just bought a non-running 79 with a 400 and a 4 speed. I finally got the engine running. When I tried to move it the rear driveline was spinning, but the wheels weren't moving. I pulled out the drive axels and one has no teeth left. I need to get a third member from the junk yard. What year broncos and trucks will work. Thanks guys!!!!!!

The stock 79 Bronco rearend should be a Ford 9" axle. These were used up to 83 in the Bronco, and even a few up to 86 came with the 9". A new ring & pinion set is only about $140, so it might be better to buy new than risk a used one. JSM84

If it an axle thats damaged, you should only need to replace the side gears inside the differencial. I bought a spider gear set straight from ford for an 8.8 and it was only like $50.00, So from the sounds you will need that and an axle. Should be in very good supply at your local auto wreckers. You should be able to get an axle and whole pumpkin for under $100.00

If your going to be off road a majority of the time then I'd throw in a mini spool. They're a cheap locker but they have they're downfalls especially if you drive on alot of pavement.
