Hope yall can help.... Just bought a 79 and love it. Spent the past two weekends fixing minor things wrong and suspension parts; drove it around for short distances and the motor was running great. Well just pulled it out for a good 30 minute drive tonight and it starts spitting and sputtering real bad. Died a couple times before i got back to the house, but when i would start it back up it would run fine then once i hit about 30 it would start to act up again. This was about the only time ive gotten it fully warmed up to operating temp it seems like and this happens. ANy info is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your time.

If it only happens when the engine gets warmed up, I would suspect the pickup inside the distributor. They have a reputation of doing things like this.

Good luck,

:)>-

From the looks of it the pick up coil is brand new. The guy I bought it from said he just about replaced the whole ignition system; the only thing lacking is new wires. I'll give him a call today to make sure.

"he just about replaced"

This leaves the door open.....

My ignition coil went south on me with these same symptoms. (New coil & all's well)

There's several types of coils & it must match the ign. system, distributor, etc.

Meaning did the PO leave it stock & do a "partial" tune up.., or put in an aft. mkt. ignition..?

Did he use quality parts or ChinaZone wannabe's..?

Put him "on the spot" .... get as much exact info. as you can. >:D< <'>

It could also be a carb. or fuel pump/filter/fuel delivery issue..,

Also if you fill-in your "signature" (see mine below) it helps us help you.
