my vin tag on my 66 is rusted it only has half of the #s. what do i do about this. will sectary of state help.

No, the DMV nor the Sec. of State won't help you out. They will always tell you to get the vehicle inspected by the state patrol and have them issue you a new VIN. If you have the title with the original VIN, then give these folks a call, http://www.martiauto.com , they do replacement VIN plates. If you are able to read the rest of the coding on the VIN tag, they can put that on there as well and it will look like an original VIN plate.
If you are needing the vin for registering/getting plates then they may not even except the vin plate even if it was good..
I am not sure about the 66 but when i went to get my 70 inspected they said that the vin tag on the glove box was not what they wanted to see, they wanted the see the stamped vin on the frame. I had to take paint remover and clean off the undercoating. my vin was on the top of the frame about six inches infront of the starter, this location may be different on your 66..
