I recently did ALOT of research into doing this myself. That motor is a great motor if you don't mind a little more work and money involved in the swap. There are plenty of resources out there (
www.corral.net/forums/ is a great one to start with). The heads and intake are the best part. Some people say that these are the best of the breed. You will need to trash the wiring harness and buy a stock one from a 87-93 mustang or an after-market one. The fuel rails may have to be replaced. The computer won't work from the explorer, you'll need an EEC-IV computer and MAF from an 87-93 mustang. The cam in it is ok for low end torque (pulling that soccer mom vehicle around) which may be good for the Bronco, but if you want more power in the mid and upper range you'll need to swap that also. The heads will need specific shorty headers (can see them here
www.vintagebronco......Explorer5L.html ) due to spark plug clearance problems (the spark plugs on the gt40p heads were relocated to give better combustion). The part number for these from Ford Racing is M-9430-P50 and about the best price new on these is $230 here:
www.oemfordparts.com. The distributor and coil will have to be replaced (can't use the coil packs with EEC-IV without spending alot of money). That covers most of the high points, just take your time and becareful. This motor can be a real workhorse.
