91 Bronco EB, 5.0l 302... how in the world do i getthe oil pan out so i can replace the gasket???

I removed the left and right motor mount bolts, lowered the exhast and raised the engine as far as it will go, the pan will clear the bell housing but is at to much of an angle to pull out since front part of pan is getting caught???

Please help, am i missing somethiong else i have to remove to get engine higher to take it off?

when i did my oil pan i removed the engine but i was doing other things at the same time..... maybe try and sneak in there and remove the oil-pickup from the pump and then it might sneak out

Actually i cheated, i used a multi peice gasket and just used blue silicon to hold, and put the gasket up while the pan was still there, since the old gasket came off in one peice there was much crud to be scraped off.

It seems to work fine now no leaks :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

You'll have to unbolt the pick-up tube and oil pump, and let them drop down into the pan so it can squeeze out.

I replaced the gasket without removing the oil pan. If you drop it as much as possible then you can eather...

1. Slide the gasket in from one side and under the oil sump (Small hands here)

2. I didn't try it but you should be able to work the gasket from one end of the pan around the outside.

I found takeing the whole pan off to much work

The easiest way to do it, i just did it thanksgiving weekend, if you want to get the oil pan completely off is to take off the upper intake, raise the engine as high as you can, and then work the oil pan out. be carefull though cause it will make you want to beat the damn thing out of there. when you put the oil pump and everyhting back in, make sure you get the distributor rod lined up in the hole on the block, and then bolt the oil pump in and then do the pick up tube. that was the easiest for me. oh yeah like someone said before you have to do all this blind cause the pump will need to be in the pan and then put on after you get the pan back in.
