I was driving into town earlier in the company van and got to thinking about the powerplant and trans that it has in it. It's a 2004 E-250 with a 4.6 and whatever auto (with od) trans that came in it...I'm not real famiar with any of the newer Ford trannys.. Anyway. So I was thinking about how much I abuse the crap outta that van and never EVER have any problems with it. The thing has the rearend springs pushed down hard because of all the crap I have to carry around to do my job. It will still get up and go even though it's loaded beyond what it should be loaded to. The engine never loads up too hard or anything. I keep the trans in O.D. all the time...
So my thought is: What would happen if I were to pick up a *pickayear* Bronco for cheap and put in a 4.6L engine and connect it to whatever transfer and tranny for that year engine?
I realize that it would not be a beast or anything, but I'm wondering how well that would work. I know right off the bat the 5.4L is going to be mentioned. I don't know much about that engine. But I do know that since 2001 we have been using the 4.6L's in the company vans and I know what we do to them. No problems ever...
