My old 351M finally gave in to the years of fun.

I looked at replacing it, but the cost to ship a long block up here to Juneau, AK will be about the same as the block its self.

There is a 351C here in town that I can get.

What would it take to do the swap? Just new mounts and a bell housing?

Would the C bell line up with my T-18 tranny?

Thanks for any help or hints.

I've never been to Cleveland before. I hope it is a nice place.

i think the 351c wouldnt be worth the hassle, and by the time you spent money converting everything over you might come out even with the long block.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I always thought that the 351/400M was the same block as the 351C, just with restricted heads.

If this is true, then a 351C should bolt right up......?

OK here it is I might pin this the 351C is nto the same block as the 351M/400 . The 351M/400 have the same bolt patterns as the big block 460/429 and the 351C shares the bolt patterns of the small block 289/351W/351C . True to look at a C and an M side by side they will look identical heads interchange/oil pan/ditributor/timing chain/cam/lifters/water pump/headers . But the block does have a different deck height to it so the intakes will not interchange . So pretty much anywhere a 289/302/351W was a 351C will bolt right in exhaust may be an issue but as for it bolting in it will . The 351C also has an oddball crank as far as journal diameter goes which also makes the rods different .As are the pistons different because of the deck height difference . So from the outside the only way to really tell the 2 apart is to look at the motor mount pads and the bell housing pattern . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
