Iam trying to figure out the size of the stud for the i6 300 4.9l in an 1982 bronco? I want to put some locking nuts on there but need the right size and havent gotten the time to take them off. Anyone know...?

The 300 should have 3/8 studs, the 240 I had did, and they are the same engine. But since Ford is so sporatic about nuts, and bolts, I would pull the valve cover and check before buying anything.

Why lock nuts? If it's tightened to the right torque they will not come loose. If you have noise from them, the way to fix it is replace the worn parts. Only one Ford engine that I can think of has adjustable lifters.

Good luck,

:)>-
