I decided to check my carb because i felt there was a possiblity the needle and seat were sticking, well after checking it and taking out the float, I decided to reinstall the float and put the carb top back on the original gasket

can the gasket be re used?

what happend was truck started after a few cranks "bowl was almost dry" then it ran for a few seconds and gas looked like it overflowed and now it doesnt want to start because its flooding

could it be the way the float was put back it, or possibly the needle or could the old gasket be causing gas to leak all over

any ideas? its hard around here to find a gasket kit for a 2bbl stock motorcraft carb

please help

OK.. off to a good start :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Sure, you may want to use a little permatex, or other gasket sealer (perhaps a silicone seal) just read the label and make sure it is ok for fuel.

What do you mean that it looked like it overflowed?

could it be the way the float was put back it, or possibly the needle
absolutely!

IF you are getting a flooding condition that you didn't have before, you probably bent the float height adjustment tab, and now the float is not putting enough pressue on the float valve into the float valve seat to stop the flow of fuel, thus causing flooding, OR you may not have reinstalled the float valve properly.

or could the old gasket be causing gas to leak all over
your kidding right? if you see gas leaking all over does it look like it is coming from where the gasket is?

Yep... don't smoke around that carburetor.

problem solved, I took the float out and the needle and reset them and adjusted the float arm a touch, apparently I bent it up alittle when taking it out

I reinstalled the gasket since it wasnt torn and put the top back on and tightened it and she fired up nicely and seems to run good
