1990 Bronco engine removal

I bought this 90 Bronco for cheap and of course it needs work. I have to replace the rear main, valve cover gaskets and oil pan gasket, i'm replacing the oil pump while i'm at it. Looking at this I'm afraid that my hoist wont lift high enough for the motor to clear the core support. Should I remove the core support or are there some other tricks people have. Thanks for any help.

while I have to admit I haven't yet needed to replace one on an 80+ Bronco or F-truck I've done AT LEAST a dozen engine swaps on 78/79 Bronco's and 73-79 F-trucks. Far and away the *easiest* way is to remove the grill & radiator support (for ME at least). I've often found that simply removing the 4 bolts and pulling off the front end as a clip makes life SO much easier. With nothing but the front framerails the engine goes in like butter and it's easy as can be to get everything set up the way you want. The newer trucks have a few more mounting points and some additional electrical connections but if I had to swap one tomorrow I'd do the same thing. As an alternative you can just remove just the grill & radiator support but quite honestly that doesn't give you much access to the sides. Everyone here will have their own take on what's easy and what isn't so I can only offer my *own* opinion and suggestions. If *I* were doing it I'd just pull the nose and be done with it.

I'm a little guy so I can climb around in the engine bay with ease. I've never had a problem pulling an engine with everything attached to the front. It is easier to do it with nothing in the front but I don't like the extra work with the AC condensor thing. You can't pull it like that with the intake on though, it'll hit the truck body at the fire wall and the engine weighs around 650 or so LBS (from what I've gathered threw the net). I always use my cherry picker at 1/2 ton to make sure it get high enough and it pulled an engine out of a BII with 6" lift just fine. Just how I do it though...
