Just did a transmission swap in my father in laws bronco and we found this part and have no idea were it belongs or what it is.

any ideas? please?

what kind of tranny & maybe a better description to go with the photos. Not sure I can help but I've got an AOD half unbolted from my 88' right now so I figured I'd ck out the thread but like a LOT of other guys who've looked just because I'm curious doesn't mean I'll have an answer.

yea its an aod and i believe it came out of the pan

According to the article, the yellow, cherry-looking item is a dipstick plug installed at the factory. This plug simply drops into the pan on the assembly line after the dipstick is installed. JSM84
