So if you pour a bit of gas down the carb does it start ? Andre is suggesting that it may have jumped time,as in the timing chain being VERY worn and getting enough slack in it so that it slips on the teeth of the timing gears. Possible but not very likely. More probable that there is something else causing your problem.

ON 2,8 ENGINE IT NOT A CHAIN IT GEARS DRIVE WHIT PLASTICK TEETH

just breack no warning

IT NOT A INTERFERENCE SO VALVE WILL NOT HIT

BUT STILL HAVE TO TAKE OFF PART OF FRONT OF ENGINE TO GET TO IT WATER PUMP TIMING COUVER EXT

BEST THING DO COMPRESSION TEST FIRST

if gear broke egine will turn faster then normaly do

If you're getting good spark, its probably safe to say that its not in the ignition. You might want to change the fuel filter next.

if you're swamp to a 4.0 ltr engine

get donnor truck like explorere or better ranger

get engine ecm and all the wirering u need

not see a 4,0 ltr carb yet

and try to use a explorer radiator have dual core not like 2.8 sigle core

if you use original diff engine is lot's stonger thend 2.8

most of the guy's swamp for ranger 8.8 inch diff

other way to got is v8 302 cid

in both case prepare to spend some time building and swamping parts

need any info get to talk to guys in here that did the swap

good luck let us know how it going
