Shortly after I rebuilt my steering column on a 1977 Bronco with AT Trans, I notice every so often my steering wheel and shaft would slide towards me in the drivers seat. My first guess was the lower steering shaft, since the lowershaft has a slip joint on it. Replaced that and the problem continued. It seems that nothing is holding the steering shaft in place. I cant figure out why this is happening. I also replaced the C-Clip that holds the turn signal and shifting mechanism onto the steering shaft. The problem has gotten worse over the past month. I must have taken my column apart 3-4 times trying to locate this problem. If anyone has seen this before let me know what I can do.

Thanks So Much

sounds like you are missing the bottom bearing retainer. Your symptoms are real typical of when you forget (nor never had one) to put it back on or tighten it. It is a small clamp that holds the lower retaining bearing up in place. If you have it on, then it is loose. Have someone push your steering wheel in and then you slide that retainer up tight and wrench it down.
