I have a 1969, 3 on the tree & 302.

The gas tank on the bronco is inop. There is a hitch welded in the way of removing the tank. So I figured if I am going through the trouble of cutting off the tow hitch that is welded to the frame covering the main gas tank I would pick up another gas tank just in case I need to replace it due to the unknown.

So with that said I picked up a complete main tank out of a 1977 Bronco. I was told this tank has lines on it that my 1969 does not. These extra line were breather lines which will be great to have as I know when I fill the aux. tank it builds back pressure and spits out while filling.

The question is where would I route these breather lines since my bronco main tank did not come with breather lines? I don't want water returning down these lines or anything else to contaminate my fuel.

Merry X-Mas to All !!!!!

The "stock" filler tube has 2 hoses...large for filling., & the small hose (approx. one inch) is your breather that let's the air out from the top of the tank to the top of the filler tube.

The extra (small) tubes on the tank are for emissions & can be blocked off.

Your aux. should have an air/vent hose as well..., maybe it's been plugged.

I just took a look at the main tank that I bought & the one in the Bronco. Makes sense. I will block off the two emission lines. Did they go to a charcoal canister?

I took a look at the aux. tank & I do not see a breather hose. The breather hose on the main tank is right in clear view. But for the aux. I don't see it as of yet. I will take down the tank to take a look. Looks like someone has replace or rebuild the aux. tank recently. I have only owned the rig for a few months.

Thanks Bully Bob. You always seem to have the answers!!!

Merry X-mas back-at-cha..!!

I don't have a stock aux. tank on mine but as I recall., they have a vent as well. And a small tube on some for emissions.

"Did they go to a charcoal canister?"

Yes., & 1 yr. had a return fr. the fuel pump...I believe it was '73.

Take a look at the aux. tanks on the EB store websites....

Well I cut off tow bar & removed main tank. Took a look inside. Looks like tar and stinks pretty foul . Lucky I have the other tank!

while I was under there I took a look at the aux tank to see why I get allot of back pressure when filling with gas. The tank was replace by previous owner with a plastic tank. I looked at the filler neck to see its only a filler neck with no tube running along side of it for back pressure. I also could see all the fittings on the tank that surround the sending unit and there was not any extra fittings for hose's ???? So I have to assume that 1969 did not have a back pressure line coming from the aux tank as there is not a line running parallel with the filler neck. Kinda of strange since the main tank has one. :( /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Unless the filler neck was also replaced with the tank at the same time???
