According to my list of axle codes if the 14 means that you have 3.00 gears. 3750 # open . Can you you tell me were you got the H thing from possibly be able to find what that is refering to.

Hope this helps.

Yup, as Preach said the "14" door code should be an open 3.00 axle used in 83, 85, 86 & later trucks.

Ahhhh, what a mess. That's what you get when you cut & paste. Freaking Bill Gates. SOME of the info may stiil be useful and salvagable. It's my own fault for being too lazy to scan it myself.

I have H2 axle which means i have 3.50 gears and a limited slip all of the H codes are limited slip axles. if there is no H then its open. not exactly sure what the other letters mean. But the way you explain it sounds like you do have a limit slip or some sort of locker.

The 3.00 is high. I think you said that you have 35's so you should be running 4.11's. It is possible that someone has been in your axle and changed gears and put a locker in. One way to check would be to count how many times the wheels turn to one turn of the drive shaft. It could be the other way but that is the way to check.

Hope this helps.

i doubt your running3.00 gears with 35s, youd never go anywhere. 2.73 is like what they put in the big cars:)

If both tires lock up im guessing you have a mini spool. do your tires chirp when you make tight turns in parking lots? or do you break traction in the rain easy?

Whats your cruising rpm at say 60mph? i think your OD in the aod tranny is like .7:1. if you have 35" tires you know your circumference you can figure out what your ratio is. My guess is if your running a 3.0 rear on 35s your in the less then 2k range rpms while going 60. if youve been upgraded to 3.55 somewhere in the 2200-2400 range and 4.11+ closer to 2800rpms.

if you have a 3.0 gear ratio your drive shaft turns 3 revolutions for ever 1 of your tire.

here are some rough numbers for you. assuming a 1:1 tranny ratio.

35" tire is roughly 110" circumference = 9.166ft

2000rpm /3(rear end) = 666.66 tire rev per min

666.66 x 9.166 = 6111.05 ft/min

6111.06 ft/min x 60min/hr = 366663 ft/hr

366663 ft/hr x 1mile/5280ft = 69.4mph

now if your OD is actualy 0.7:1 that 2000rpm of your driveshaft becomes 1400rpm and you end up with like 48.6mph.

(note: you can also multiply your 69.4mph by your tranny ratio since this was done a 1:1 so 69.4 x 0.7 also gives you 48.6mph)

WOW Shift that is some major brain function to figure that out. On the other hand it is good to know if you are missing the door sticker.

Thanks I will remember that.
