    Pressing down on brake pedal causes high idle

    Pull the line for the brakebooster from the intake, plug them both (cap on intake, big bolt in hose). Repeat your testing - but if you try to drive be aware the brakes will be HEAVY. If problem is gone then you know booster is leaking. If problem persists ... hmmmmm

    Uphill maxing out at 35mph

    It could be your torque converter is not unlocking under load. If so, it could be caused by low fluid levels, filter dropped out and not getting fluid drawn up, bad torque converter, electronics not signaling to unlock, or electronics not responding to unlock command.

    Weller in Grandville, MI has a 1991 F150 4WD with 5.0L and E4OD transmission. Last time I was there it was pretty complete (two weeks ago) when I took a few engine bits.

    Popping at high idle, no power

    Is this running the old-style SD EFI or is it the "modern" MAF EFI? If SD, any mods to airflow would cause issues like that.

    We just got our first Bronco - a 91 EB edition with 5.0 and E40D. 98000 winter-free miles. Previous owner installed an E303 cam and put on headers with a Borla exhaust, but otherwise stock. So it idles poorly - going to have to either pull cam or do a MAF swap on it. Looking forward to learning...
