Alright, to avoid any confusion, I'll just start from the top. I have an 87 Bronco with a 5.0. I wasn't getting any oil pressure on my gauge so I changed out the oil pressure sending unit about a week ago. That worked great for about a week. Then my oil pressure dropped off again. Turns out the new oil pressure sending unit was bad too. So yesterday I picked up a new one and got to work on it. I got it changed and lowered the truck off the lift. Hopped in and turned the key. The engine rotated but it wouldn't fire up. Can't understand why. I didn't do anything to anything that effects the fuel system and it's always started right up. I checked the inertia switch and it wasn't tripped. I pulled out a spark plug and it wasn't wet and didn't even smell like fuel. Any pointers to get me in the right direction?

When you turn the key to ON do you hear the fuel pump(s) prime? BTW... you have two fuel pumps, one in the tank, the other beside the driver's side frame rail.

Is your truck carbed, or EFI?

You can pull diagnostic codes from your onboard computer... all you need is a four inch piece of wire, and a cheap volt meter.

Here are instructions...

No I can't hear them prime. I thought I should be hearing that. It's EFI. The garage I was working in closed at five and it was 4:30 when I discovered it wouldnt start so I didn't have enough time to tinker around. I'll be getting back to it on Wednesday. But good thing mentioning the priming noise. I thought not hearing a noise was odd. Maybe I snagged a wire with the lift. I was really disappointed. She needs a lot of work but I was always proud of how well the engine ran.

You may also want to check your fuses, and perhaps your fuel pump relay (I'm not sure if you should have one, or two) It/they should be located under the hood, driver's side - above the wheel well.
Here is how to test one.

Yeah the wiring above the wheel well is somewhat of a rat's nest. That may be my problem too. When I was changing the oil pressure sending unit, my leg slipped and I put my knee in there. I checked and didn't see any obvious problems, but it probably deserves a closer look. Everything worked fine before I put it on the lift. Thanks for the links by the way.

Hopefully it will be a real obvious and easy fix :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />Good luck... and BTW... Welcome to BroncoZone!
I hope so too. Wife's having fits because she didn't want me to buy this thing in the first place. But it was only $800 and it ran great and the 4x4 still worked so I bought it anyway. I needed a hobby and so far it's been a perfect fit. Thanks for the advice and thanks again for the help!
