Hey Everyone!! Have another Question for the Bronco Masterminds!!!!!!!!!! LOL I know there is a site thats already floating around the zone re: 95 steering box fixes but can't find it so here goes My steering on the 95 XLT is getting really sloppy Had the front rechecked about 6 monthes ago to check that all the bolts on the 4" lift were thight plus about the same time had the upper and lower balljoints done and all bushings Now my steering wheel is at about 10 oclock and I feel like I',m driving in the Movies where the actors are moving the steering wheel back and forthe So does anyone have the link or the pics on how to tighten up the steering box or does anyone have another idea what it could be Thanks Stu

Check the connection between the steering wheel and the steering box for any play.

I'd start by cking the steering shaft (the one that runs from the firewall down to the steering box) These usually go bad and result in a lot of slop. If the box is the problem then you'll need to swap it out for a rebuilt or junkyard unit. There isn't any fixing or adjusting to be done. There IS a large ***** & locknut protruding from the top of the box and a lot of guys mistakenly think that they can use this to tighten up the steering. REAL BAD IDEA. That ***** is there to preload the sector shaft when it's assembled and *nothing else*. If you play around with it you'll wind up with a very dangerous truck, the steering will bind up unexpectedly and the wheel will not return to it's position when coming out of turns (you'll have to manually turn the wheel back to center every time and it will be randomly binding when you do). If the box is worn there's nothing to be done but bite the bullet and replace it.

A buddy of mine told me to be careful of alot of things when adding a lift kit. One of them is the steering getting sloppy. I'll ask him how to fix it, cuz I don't have any suggestions for ya. Good luck.

Thanks everyone sorry about the time of this reply my cable modem S@#t the bed I'm checking into a friend who has a new replacment shaft and box he bought it and before he could install it his bronco got Tboned and folded the front wheel up under the frame so insurance is replacing his whole front end I'll let you know how it works out Thanks Again Stu

i had a about 1 1/2 inch play in my steering wheel and just yesterday had the tie rod replaced the steering feels just fine. give it a try. hope that helps i don't have a lift kit though.
