also try a few types of rubberized undercoating, It's generally more grippy than most do it yourself bedliner stuff. especially to rubber shoes, and you can always install carpet over it.

If you want to go really cheep find a place that sells cheep interior carpet in my area you can find a 50 dollar piece of carpet that'd do a bronco 3 times or so.

I would *strongly* advise staying away from undercoating. It does just fine at letting rocks & pebbles bounce off of it but it has little to no abrasion resistance. Everywhere that you place your feet or put cargo it's going to get all balled up, smeared around and transferred to your shoes, pants, cargo, your dog, everything. Come summertime it's going to be a REAL nightmare especially if you leave the cap on the truck, it will make a mess the likes of which you've never seen before, might as well just paint it with gear oil.

A roll of inexpensive indoor/outdoor carpet works well enuf and I've known a couple guys who did a great job using cheap artificial grass, plus the astroturf is easy to hose off *especially* if you use neoprene seat covers.

thanks for the help. i have tried the ruberized undercoating more as a rust preventative than an actual floor cover and your right it does get ugly quick. so over top of that i tried regular house carpet and padding. this worked ok for the cargo area but i just couldnt get it to mold around the humps in the drivers area. at this point i guess i've learned the lesson that you get what you pay for so i'm willing to invest a little bit but i dont want to grossly over pay and i've seen carpet kits ranging from 130 all the way to over 300. how ever i dont have any idea what the differences are.
