hey guys i dont mean to be a pain in the butt and i sure appriciate all the advice you guys are giving me on this site.but im still having this problem every once in a while for the past couple of weeks on my 95 full size bronco 5.8 , when i go to start it in the morning it wont stay running unless i keep my foot on the gas . after it warms up it is fine. i was told to put a tps in and i did and ill tell you the trucks feels a lot better . but im still having the wont stay running problem every once in a while, but i noticed if i pump th gas a few times before i start it the truck wont stall. many of you told me to clean the MAF sensor i found out my truck does not have one . was this sensor replaced by another sensor? i had the truck since it was brand new and it was never removed. ROADKILL one of our members, explained that some 95 broncos did not come through with the MAF sensor. can anyone tell me why? what else could be causing this problem?...thanks for your patiance with me /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

MAF stands for Mass Air Flow. In a nutshell, what it does is tell the computer how much air is going into the engine. The computer uses this information to determine how much fuel to inject in order to maintain optimal fuel/air ratio in the combustion chamber. Before Ford started using MAF, it used a system called Speed Density. Speed Density basicaly uses a predetermined set of parameters to determine airflow based on engine speed. Either system works fine, but with MAF the computer knows exactly how much air is entering the engine. Speed Density has no way to actually measer the airflow so it can not compensate for changes such as a restricted air filter.

Some Broncos were being built with MAF and some with Speed Density in 1995. I'm not sure exactly which ones had what other than all California trucks had MAF in 95. (I'm sure someone else can jump in with more detailed information on that subject) By 1996, all Broncos were built with MAF systems.

my 95 5.8 has a map sensor, located on the firewall between the ac unit and the block, easy tp replace. one vacumn line and a plug,

Ok I'm coming in mid stream on this but have you changed the fuel filter and run some FI Cleaner through the tank?

this sounds silly but, i had the exact same prob with my 93 bronco 5.8l. it turned out that it was low on anti-freeze. who would of thunk?

now theres something that rattles my chain . about 2 weeks b4 i encountered this problem i been leaking a little bit of anti freeze out the bottom hose . come to think of it after i put more antifreeze in the problem stopped . i noticed i was a bit low on antifreeze last night but didnt put any in because i was just a little low and i had the starting problem this morning.what do you think about that ? is it some sort of engine protection thing.............dude your a genius. thanks a bunch
