whats the best way to go about cleaning the gastanks. my aux tank is bad to the point it kills the engine from clogging the fuel filter. and my main one does good but i can still see particles start to build up over a short time in the filter. how easy is it to drop the tanks. what are the steps. and if they are salvagable how do you go about cleanin out the gunk. thanks

I've never tried this yet, but my grandpa used to clean gas tanks by carrying them in the bed of his truck for a few weeks with the steel balls from ball bearing (or small rocks and pebbles) in the gas tank. Grandpa lived through the Depression and never did like to spend money.

Hey 7488, you've already got 2 good solutions, taking them off is the kicker, it should go loosen 3 bolts and disconnect the hoses and gage wires, BUT that ain't real life!!! JBG's got the replacement straps and j-hooks.

Of course empty all the gas first and don't smoke!!! Good luck.
