I am looking at things I want to do to make my bronco a little unique. One of the things was to consider installing a wooden bed in place of the metal one in the rear. Has anyone seen a bronco in our year range where this has been done? I looked through the web but couldn't find anything.

I'm a woodworker and love the idea of having the old time look of a wood bed in there.

Any suggestions? Input? Rotten tomatos?

if you're going to do it i would suggest just putting wooden slats in instead of cutting the whole floor out and replacing it with wood because of the bracing

yea no doubt! definatly overlay the metal as opposed to cutting out the metal. i think you'd compromize the structural integrity of the truck. above and beyond that just use your imagination man... i'm a wood worker myself i think if i was going to do it i might use some tounge and groove flooring maybe glued down with some liquid nails or subfloor adheasive. just a few thoughts for you to elaborate on or reject completely :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I think a wood floor bronco would look sweet!!

I agree with the others that cutting on the floor would be bad juju. I would think that using floor planks, shaving and beveling them to fit inside the natural ridges of the floor panel to make a flat floor would look awesome. I would consider doing that to mine but I plan on building a slide-drawer system in the back of mine for trail tools storage.

Hope it turns out nice for ya, post some pics if you do.

All input is welcome man. I'm sure whatever I use I will tongue and groove it for strength and longevity. I was thinking of making a small interior metal frame with a thin sheet of plate metal on the bottom which will install on top of the exsisting bed then put the wood on that. That way I don't compromise the truck itself by cutting and there is essentially a 'sub floor' for the wood to set on.

When I start to move forward on it I'll keep you all posted.

icon_iagree.gif If you fill the ridges you will / should get that 40's look and I think that would look real cool.
