I'm looking to update my 75 with EFI. I have a lead on an EFI system off a 94 Mustang GT including serpentene belt. My question will it fit under my stock hood? Any help will be appreciated.

Yup, it'll fit. As a matter of fact you should have good clearance because the Mustang manifolds have a lower profile than the F-truck/Full-size manifolds because the designers had to work around the low hood.

Yeah, if you are going to EFI the thing, stay away from the truck system. You have to have a body lift as well as a different hood (or cut a gaping hole in your hood) in order to have the clearance. My EFI has about the same clearance as the stock carb used to. The only thing that comes close is the distributer boot, but that is because I have liner sprayed on the underside of my hood and it takes up some of the play room. But other than that, it is clear sailing.

Whoa, whoa, whoa there Hoss. What liner ? Something like a Rhino Lining on the underside of the hood & maybe the firewall & innerfenders ? Is it simply cosmetic or does it work as a heat barrier ? Seems like something along those lines would make spraying out the engine compartment a fairly easy job. Give it up, what's the deal on this thing ? I've *always* hated dealing with engine compartments, even after swapping in a $6K engine it looks like shit, they're a pain in the a$$ to clean up and you *never* get all the grease & oil off so you feel like a doofus lifting the hood on Saturday night, even WITH 400+ horses. Share the wealth my man. Heat resistant ? Maybe it doesn't bubble up & burn from the headers heat ? Share, Bubba, Share. Inquiring minds want to know.

HAHAHA...yeah, I sprayed Herculiner on the inside of my engine box. Easy to wash when the oil spews and it has never bubbled from heat. As a matter of fact, it saved my hood from the fan one time. My fan shroud broke and dropped into the fan and shattered it. Sent fan blades everywhere and the liner saved the hood from being shot through. All I got out of it was paint cracking from the force of the blow and the liner didn't even scuff. Pretty durable sh*t. The only thing that I don't like is that it is heavier to lift now, but I will take that for the rust protection. I will also say that the hood isn't as hot to the touch and even the firewall isn't as bad. Though H-liner isn't billed as a heat dissapater or anything. The only thing about it that I don't like is when you drag your knuckles across it. Hurts like **** because Herculiner is a rough bed liner. For a show truck, I wouldn't recommend putting a bed liner type product in. I might go with something like POR-15 that has a more gloss/powder coated look.

I'm in Grand Junction. I missed the Easter run because he hasn't sent the efi and of course the four letter word(WORK) stop me from going.

Hey, you're preaching to the choir, you *don't* need to sell me on the benefits. It's just that the only products I've run across have either been of the Wal-mart variety or a full-blown Rhino-lining. I have yet to see a *quality* liner that can be applied at home or done at a shop INexpensively. I agree that the Rhino liner is one tough product, but they KNOW this and charge for it accordingly. Something comprable that can be applied at home would be a damn good compromise. Their patent has been out there long enuf for resourcefull College-Boys to have reverse engineered it.

So what's the scoop in this Herculiner ? Is it available locally thru vendors like Napa/Autozone or is a Web address the best way to go ?

How *does* it apply ? Do you have to paint/roll it on, thin it & use a texture gun or what ? Even with the cleanup hassles I *prefer* something I can apply via spray for the better coverage but I know some products get screwed up if/when you thin them and some of them harden so quickly the gun almost has to be disposable (I have a Harbor Freight store nearby and they routinely have top-loading automotive & texture HVLP guns on sale in the $20 range so getting a throw-away for a job like this is definately possible). Do you still have any of it to refrence the instructions on thinning it for spray or is it just too thick to do this with ?

C'mon, pony up the intel. This is some *good* $hit that a LOT of guys could make use of. I am *surely* not the only guy with an interest in this. Twelve months from now we'll have 20+ guys guys who've applied this stuff. If I were still a Rust-belt resident 'd be WAY interested in this stuff. A product like this, available to the Rank & file has a LOT of potential. HALF the guys in N.E & NY would/should be interested (well, more than half really, but a lot of them don't bother to read every new thread. What can you do but try to reach the ones who DO)

Oh $hit, didn't mean to 'jack the thread. Let me ALSO comment that it's a *damn* good looking rig. For better than 20yrs now I've wanted to have to opportunity to run at Moab. Appreciate the ****** out of what you have access to, everyone ELSE in the country has to be content w/photos and vids. We're polite & hide it well but we're ALL jealous and hate to admit it. Enjoy it & keep sending photos. That sort of thing is like **** for guys who like trucks (Is that a Politically Correct thing to say ? Doesn't seem like it would be but ****, I'll leave the comment in there. I'm sure one of the Mods will tell me if it's inappropriate)

I haven't used Duplicolor/Durabak, but from what I understand, it is very similar to Herculiner except that it isn't as rough. Herculiner can be bought at all kinds of places and it is really easily applied. I used a regular liner gun, $20 from an automotive paint shop. I imagine the Harbor Freight guns would be just as good. I know you can thin it up to 10% with Xeline or Xylol for spray use and roller/paint brush application isn't thinned. Clean up is with the same thinning products. Pretty simple and for about $80/gallon and it would only take 2 gallons/max to do a truck bed in about the same thickness as you can get Rhino or Line-X, I don't see how you can go wrong. The name brands are more slip resistant, but I don't know how much once you get the same thickness applied. I haven't sprayed it that thick before, so I don't know. The one thing that you have to watch is sagging though. If you want a really thick coat, you should plan on spraying it over a couple of days to be able to let it set up in between coats, or it will sag bad on you. I did my sister's Jeep last summer and I waited about 3 hours inbetween coats and it seemed to be decent time to give it to harden a little. The other thing that Herculiner has come out with is a UV protectant. I would like to see how that works because all bed liners seem to fade pretty bad and if this helped lessen the fade, it would be worth it.
