I have a 79, it was runnig great, the best its ran it the 3 years Ive owned it, then it just quit and had to be towed back. Now when I try to start it, it will crank but Im only getting a spark off the coil at the beginning of crank and then when I stop cranking, but nothing while its cranking, I have replaced the ignition switch, coil, voltage regulator, ingnition modulator. I was told it could be my ballast resistor but I cant seem to find any to buy. Any suggestions would be greatly apppreciated.

Have you checked your ecm Electronic control module, if that goes out you won't start at all. I had the same problem with my pickup and 79 ford bronco. When my pickup crapped out I had it towed to the nearest shop and it cost me 400 hundred dollars. I didn't know it was the ecm til after they repaired it. The ECM that died was original. My bronco was doing the same thing so after I knew what had been wrong with my pickup I just replaced it on my bronco and it fixed it. So give it a try and let me know if it fixes it. If your ecm is bad you will have sparkbefore and after but no start. The ecm controls your ignition. So good luck.

If you talking about the electronic control module on the driverside wall under the hood, Ive already replaced it, but I will look into it again, I know I have purchased bad parts before so this wouldnt be the first time. Thanks Again

Got my balast resistor on ebay, $2.99 plus shipping. Autozone/Oreilly has one. I saw it there after I purchased off ebay.
