Does anyone have any advise as to what type of tow straps i should get and where i might be able to find them? I found a website that has recovery ropes and i heard good stuff about them and was thinking about getting one... this is what i was looking at... http://www.masterpull.com/item.cfm?itemid=29368... im not sure if they will work for what we do, but i have read nothing but good things about them... last night i busted a strap with a break strength of 30000lbs... now i don't have a strap... i know to stay away from anything with hooks and i was told not to use chains unless it was a last resort... and even then they are so dangerous it almost isn't worth it... HELP!!!!

Yes chains are definately a very very last resort . I put one through the back window of my F150 shortbox definately had my complete and undiveded attention for a min or two . The wider the strap the stronger I think there was some 6 inch on ebay reasonable :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I pulled a rear shackle off a 76 CJ-5 with a chain. The chain flew overhead in a big arch and smashed a radio I had in the back. ****** straps are the way to go. Like a big rubber band.

yeah i went on an adventure last night... had a strap like the one you speak of.... first time using it and it pretty much exploded... kind of cool actually.... looked like it might have hurt had it hit someone... left a dent in the tailgate of the other truck... i put the story about it in the Trail Talk Section.... in Jersey trails... check it out if you want a good laugh
