hey yall ive got a 71 bronco with a 302 bored 60 over and i cant get it to run ive tried everything im pretty sure its got something to do with the way ive set the valves i was just wondering if you guys had any tips any help at all would be greatly appreciated

Did you pull the distributor out? Could be 180* out or even a tooth or two off.
For your question: First you need to know if you have hydraulic lifters or not. If not hydro you just tighten until they stop. With hydro you have to get the engine to TDC and dist pointing at #1. Go to rocker #1 and tighten the nut until you feel a preload on the rocker and tighten 1/2 - 3/4 turn further. Then turn the crank 1/4 turn and go to the next cylinder in the "firing order" and so on. Do not go down the line like 1,2,3,4, you have to go in the firing order. If you don't like this way, you can always loosen up all the lifters a bit so they are loose and will clack like crazy and do the listening test. As soon as the click goes away on that rocker add 1/4 - 1/2 turn. If you tighten to far the motor will crap out like yours might be doing now. Go back 1/4 turn. Best way to do this is to have a second set of valve covers so you can cut open the top so you can adjust the valves without oil going all over the exhaust. So it sounds like they are all too tight and will not allow the motor to turn over. I'd loosen them up 1/2- 3/4 turn and see if it starts.
