Hello-- New to Zone-- have a 67 ford bronco 289- 3 speed manual tran-- Rear drive shaft yoke (coming out of T case) not broken but the pieces that bolt to it (dont know what they are called-- straps?) (they do not look like the straps that hold the end of the u-joint at the rear axle) and bolts were severely worn when u-joint failed. Are these available new or is it a junk yard- used item only-- On the end I am describing the bolts pass through the back of the yoke and thread into these "straps"-- there is not much thread left on them and I do not want to put it back together in such a weakened condition. They have a raised metal end where the u joint cap fits in the journal to keep the end caps (with the needles in them) from coming off. Maybe if I knew what they were called I could find some new ones. Would prefer not to have to pull the yoke-- maybe that is only option. Any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks--

Hi Rattlin.., welcome....

Pics would help....

Hmmmm..., not sure if what you have is stock fr. that discription...?

Go to (don't know where you are) Toms Bronco Parts., Wildhorses 4x4., or this site sponsor Jeffs Bronco Graveyard....

Their websites will have pics & the parts you need.

Do fill in your info on this site for more accurate help. B)

We have had this bronco since it was new- apparently the Borg Warner style yoke needs to be updated to a spicer style yoke and a new drive shaft with CV joint installed-- apparently the old one was "modified" cv was removed and drive shaft modified and hooked directly to the t-case-- It has run a long time like this without significant problems but it would be nice to fix it correctly- It would be nice however to find some Borg Warner "straps" and bolts and fix it while I raise money for the new drive shaft with cv and spicer yoke--

That's what I thought..

Still not much info as to where you are or how you use your rig... but., you could stop by your local driveline shop & see if they have any used/re-built shaft set-ups.

The Borg yokes my be fine, depending on your usage....& they may be able to put you back to stock (meaning 3 u-joints/CV joint & correct length) at an attractive price.

ALSO.., assuming your front shaft is stock...?

Thanks--

I spent part of the day under an old bronco spraying Blaster on the rear drive shaft bolts-- It has spicer yoke- cv and the price is right-- Should bolt right up to mine-- take Borg yoke off my t-case and put "new" spicer yoke from old bonco on mine-- Just not looking forward to taking yoke off of junk bronco where it sits. (or the one off of mine for that matter)-- is this a matter of impact wrench Blaster and "tapping" (maybe some "gentle" heat)?

Have you looked/measured the rear (rear) yoke on the rear end..?

Best to have both yokes the same.

Those nuts have a torgue setting....you should be able to back them off with a breaker bar. You may have to bolt a chain on the yoke to keep it fr. turning.

Closely insp. the nuts.... they should fit snug or they'll loosen up causing wobble.

Best to replace if they ***** on loose.
