Thanks

Do you just enjoy the shifting part of a manual? If so why not just get a manual valve body and shifter so you have to shift all your gears!

if u have a small block in ur 77 now, then a trans from an 86 will bolt up to it, if you have a big block you might need a bellhousing from another trans, also your going to have to remove your tranns cooler lines, get the floor cover from a manual trans truck so your shifter can go thru the floor, and also may have to change the transmission mount of crossmember, your transfer case should bolt up no problem, 77 should have an NP 205 so u might have to fabricate some mounts if needed, as for the mount/crossmember, you will have to wait to hear froma moderator on that one, i am unsure, but it can be done and its not all that hard

it does indead have a small block 302 in it now. right now id have to move my amp too, i have an amp right over where the stick wouold come throught the floor. i just couldnt find anywhere better to mount it! will i have to cut out the cross member and weld a new one in? and i do have an aftermarket tranny cooler cuz the rig had a camper on it when i got it, im guessing lots of towing and that camper weighted an extra 500 lbs at least...can i just cut a hole in my floor for whre the stick would come through? then put a boot over it...and right now to me the transfercase stick looks like it should be where the manual stick would be if it were a manual, will i have to re route the transfer case stick? so your saying a 1986 5 speed tranny would bolt right up???

You might check with Wild Horses or one of the other early Bronco vendors, they sell all kinds of parts for the swap from auto to manual. You likely have the Dana20 t-case and a C-4 auto, but several manual 4-sp and 5-sp Ford trannies and t-cases would fit with the right parts. You'll most likely need to re-locate or fab new crossmembers and driveshafts depending on the length of the tranny/t-case combo. You'll also need the correct flywheel for your 302. JSM84

yea good point JSM a flywheel change is def something you have to do, i wasnt sure if the crossmember from a manual truck would bolt right in or not, i wouldnt reccoment cutting your floor for the shifter to go thru but i guess you could do it and glue a boot down or soemthing, it all depends what you have to spend really, try some junkyards they MIGHT have a few parts you could use

I'd pull the radiator, and check the clearance for the cam when you pull the old one out. Sometimes raising the motor an inch or two will give you enough clearance, but you definitely want to avoid nicking the new cam while putting it in.

alright, i was planning on pulling the radiator. but do you think i could get by with takin the front grill off, looks like theres enough room in there to slide the new one in...what else would you recoomned with a cam while im in there?? heres what im doing so far: cam and lifters, timing gear set, rollor rocker arms, intake manny (4 bbl), truck avenger 650 cfm...anything else that would get me good power? or just a good thing to throw in while im in there? thanks
