This is in reference to my 1973 Bronco. I have an automatic transmission. It appears that I have two wires coming from the side or the top of the transmission into the engine compartment to a female end of a connection. Nothing on the other side. It just stops. Any ideas of what and/or where these two wires are suppose to go.

I'm new at this but it's fun. I'll have this for a lifetime.

Thanks,

There should be either a three or four wire plug coming off the transmission...

park/neutral safety switch, and back up lights should be in the same plug.

They come off the shifter shaft on the left side of your trans.

If you have a floor shifter, these wires may now be redundant.

Just an additional comment to STLKIKN's comment. If it is a manual shift the neutral safety switch is replaced by a clutch switch. That would leave just a reverse indicator switch coming from the transmission.

I know what wire he's talking about here. I don't think its the ones you guys have suggested. Basically its 2 wires coming out of the tranny, comes to a plug and then it ends there, just a jumper wire connecting the 2 wires. Is this what you are referring to? And seabronc and stilkikn? Is this wire one of the ones you guys are talking about? It looks like they bypassed the neutral safety awitch. I have wondered what this wire was for in the past as well. Never could find an answer so I moved on. Haha now I'm curious again

This wire may have soemthing to do with my reverse lights. They do not work. I have four wires coming from the front to the rear for my lights. I think they are wired like this.

Black - Ground

Brown - Run, License

Green - Right Turn, Stop

Yellow - Left Turn, Stop

Which one is my reverse and how is it wired?
