trann swap and starter not engaging

which is the best swap for a 89 bronco 11 with a 2.9L and A4LD two wheel drive the tranny went out and need info on which to go back with. and the starter when i turn the key it just runs free I checked the fly wheel its ok, puzzled

If I understand correctly the starter may not be engauging if the (bendix/ solinoid) is not throwing the gear forward(think I said that right) so it will not engauge the flywheel or if you have swapped tranny's you may have the wrong flywheel for the transmission so the starter is throwing forward but the teeth are not engauging due to the smaller flywheel (something to check)
