Howdy All,
Alright, maybe not the Ark, but possibly even better. I have spent the last six years looking for the perfect Bronco. After years of seeing them pass the auction block, I came to the realization that I was going to have to spend MAJOR bucks on a MAJOR project. As I am not even a tiny bit as knowledgeable as the majority of folks on the BroncoZone, the idea of a rusted-out pile of metal attached to wheels(or not) was not my idea of fun. Although I do enjoy a challenge, a man has to know his limitations(Clint Eastwood). So a few weeks ago I placed a bid for a Bronco that I determined was within my realm of possibilities. The bid was continuing to rise, as it always does, and I was struggling with the decision to over-pay. I was talking to a friend at work about the risks and rewards, as he has had quite a few cars up on the stage at Barrett-Jackson, and he suggested I talk to another guy at work. I did, and after talking to him, hurried to the computer and droped out of the bidding. You see, this guy at work just so happened to have a 1966 Ford Bronco sitting beside his house. Rebuilt 302, rebuilt c4, Brand new Duff lift, new exhaust, and a lot of assorted new parts in the back: new painless wiring, electric wipers, new drive-shaft etc.. He said he just doesn't have time for it and if I wanted it he would sell it to me for $1000, if I thought that was fair. With my best hold'em face, I said it sounded fair to me. Unreal!! Don't get me wrong, this bronco still has some issues: linkage on the C4 needs replaced, although both trans and engine are rebuilt, both have been sitting for a year without running, needs new starer and battery, and the usual rust spots are there; however, it truly is just what I have been looking for. Anyway, long story, but I needed to get it out to someone who might actually appreciate it, because my friends and definately my girlfirend don't "get it." Also just wanted to say hi to all. I live in Salt Lake City but am not of the pre-dominant religion. I would really enjoy being the catalyst for a Bronco Weekind in Moab. I have plenty of friends that go down there for Jeep Days and they have a blast. If anyone is still reading this to this point and would like to help get the ball rolling let me know.
