ok, so i just got done paying my local mechanic $1,100 for work on my brake hosing and many other things. One of the things i asked to be changed were the two brake pads up front. So two days after i got my beast back i was just cruising up a hill that i go up almost everyday. There i am, driving around 8-12mph when all of a sudden i hear a ping as if my front right tire clip a tree branch on the side of the road. I was like "*** was that? that was kinda strange" so i quickly turn my beast around just to see what the **** i hit hoping it would just be a tree branch or something in that nature. But i was sadly mistaken. As i cruise by the designated area i see some kind of dirty chrome piece just sitting there on the side of the road. I quickly take a double take at this device when my eyes open up fully and im like " is that my f*ucking hub?", it sadly was. It was just thrown on the side of the road covered in dirt. till this point i'm still in amazement of how unprofessional a mechanic can be. Ow, and as i went to just see how the **** the hub came off i saw that the inner wheel well cover was missing three nuts out of it. so now its just flapping when i start to drive fast down the road. The only good news is that the hub seems to be undamaged from its dramatic experience.

I'd take the broken hub and Bronco straight back to that mechanic and... oh well, let's just say I'd be upset and looking for answers, ask to talk to the owner of the shop if it ain't him/her. I spent about $3000 fixing things that the last garage my 84 Bronco had been to forgot to fix or didn't do a good job of fixin'. You can do it yourself with the help of a repair manual and the advice from this forum. Ever see the tire commercial with the old lady throwing the tire thru the front plate glass window of the tire place? "If you don't like our tires, bring it back". Please, don't drive your Bronco thru the front of that mechainc's shop, even if you feel the urge to do it. Just don't go back there ever, ever again. And tell your friends and everyone you meet how bad they were if it was their fault. The garage forgot to plug the dipstick hole in my rebuilt block, so I leaked oil all over the place for a while until i figured it out myself. But I keep telling folks how bad they were and not to go there. L&M Auto in Wharton, TX. JSM84

One of my classes for my tech school has is "proffesional service writing," and one of the best tips I got was "most people won't talk about a job done well, but they WILL talk about a job done wrong or poorly." Suffice it to say that just saying you're unhappy with the way a shop does business speaks volumes and that in itself could be your way of getting back, so to speak.

But man, I'd take that hub, drop it on the counter, and with the cheesiest smile I could make ask for the owner about my new paperweight and where to park the Bronco till it gets done RIGHT. Or another route, get another shop to estimate the repair's quality and what it'll take to do RIGHT, take that to the shop that did it wrong, tell em you want this much, and that's that. Good luck, we've all delt with some pretty shady places.
