So I just went out to go home and my 89 Bronco 5.8 will not start. It turns over, has 1/4 tank of gas (I just went to the parts store, bought a gas can and put 4 gal in it thinking it might be low) has power to the coil but no spark... Distributor turns so I know that the cam gear is good. Here is what I am thinking, it is either my new MSD coil or my TFI module on the distributor. The worst thing about this is I have spare coils and a new spare module and the special tool to replace the module in my spare parts and tool bags...... Read on... Hear it comes....Wait for it........ AT HOME............. 20 miles away..... So what are you guys thinking? Module or coil?

Time to weigh in...

Bummer, have to use the ole thumb to get a ride. I doubt it's the new coil, my money is on the module or a wiring issue. Good luck, JSM84

Luckily my wife drove herself to work and she only works cross town so I just have to wait for her to come get me... It drove to work just fine, no issues. I turned it off and then tried to start it about 5 hrs later and nada... I am thinking module as well, wiring looks good, all plugs are clean and no breaks and the module is a FoMoCo module so it is 18 years old.... I will let you know what I find out..

Trust me, I thought so too thats why I added 4 gallons of gas first.... Then i made sure I was using the right key, held my head in just the right position, closed one eye, pumped the pedal 496 times, pushed the brakes 257 times, honked the horn twice, beat my head on the steering wheel until I bled...... I hope I remembered everything...

Sounds like you may not have hit the dash hard enough or said enough bad words to make Satin blush... You should try that, it works sometimes.... Also, when you switched from pumping the pedal 496 times to the brakes, did you turn your head the other way and close the other eye? That my good friend, may be the verdict... hehe

Now that I did the turn your head thing in conjunction with all the other sequence (and put in a new ignition module) the Bronc is back on the road.. All of you that said module are the big weeners of the day..... What you won, I am not sure but hey it was a great game wasnt it?????
