TAILGATE

I hope someone may have had experience with the following......my tailgate was working fine and somehow has become very heavy. Is there a set of gears or hydraulics inside the assembly that allows it to drop down .....

It has a torsion bar that hooks to the right side. Sounds like it broke or became detached.
