Just got a 67 bronco, and there seems to be a problem with the steering. The wheel can be pulled towards me and pushed back inward, mabey about an inch bothways. When i wiggle the steering shaft it seems to move and it looks as if the seal is coming out of the stering column tube. So, do you guys think a bearing went out inside the sterring column tube? I've never seen this before.

I think you are saying that the shaft is moving in and out of the column..

If this is the case, under the hood on the steering shaft just as it exits the column, there is a small clamping collar.

You should be able to adjust the collar until the wheel will no longer pull towards you when you are driving...

If it is adjusted properly already, then yes you have a bearing problem.

P/S or manual..?

P/S it could be the rag-joint as stated.

Manual, it could be the "bell" joint at the steering box.

HOWEVER, sounds like the whole unit could use "service" The supply house catalogs (Toms Br. parts, etc) have a blow-up pic of the columns & the parts are rel. cheap.

It's a 1 1/2 banana job to remove the column & bring it back into spec.

Parts may be $5 to $25 at most.

THEN, you're sure your rig won't leave you stuck...or hirt... b-(
