Stearing Stabilizers

Does anyone think that Stearing Stabilizers are a "must?" I'm not to sure if they acomplish as much as everyone thinks? I may be wrong and if I am would someone please enlighten me? :glare:

yes those are a definate must with tires over 35 inches I put a rancho 9000 on my plow truck turned up on the high setting because it would rip the wheel out of your hands when it got rough . Now its all good . /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

steering stabilizers are a must id say also, i have 38's so i have the dual setup, 35 or bigger needs 2 ive heard, i love em, plus they look cool haha, without them your wheel will rip outta your hands just as it states above

I took mine off and it helped steer the 38's easier locked in on the trails. I don't get bump steer either by keeping the trac bar and drag link at same angle. I can see it being usefull on lifted road rigs.

With just a set of 32x11.50's should I need one? I don't do much offroading and I've never felt like my tires are shaking my stearing much. The reason I'm asking is a guy I know, a jeep guy that is, told me that my shaking was due to not haveing any?

Take a look at the rest of your linkage down in the front. I was getting shaking on braking....warped rotor (new out of the box!!). Your tie rods could be worn....my were shot and needed replaced, not too expensive but a pain none the less. King Pins should be checked as well as your steering gear box. Mine grenaded after I tighted up all the other components and it couldn't handled the sudden improvement. A steering stabilizer will minimize the shock passed up and throughout the front end system should you hit a curb or while off roading as well as slow down overall front end wear.

A steering stabalizer is just a horizontal shock. A very few vehicles like the old VW bettles that HAD to have one. They will dampen a shake caused by excessive runout in the wheels & tires or worn front parts. But just because it stops the shake doesn't mean the cause of the shake has been fixed.
