Shifter conversion

I was thinkin about converting from the 3 on the column shifter to 3 on the floor. the only shift kits i have found have been pretty pricy. are there other tricks to doing this with other avenues for the parts needed, or should i just save up for the hurst shift kit? thanks all.

by the way, i have a 76 302v8 with a 3 speed manual tranny

A shift kit goes inside the tranny for firmer shifts. What you want is a shifter from B&M or Hurst. I have a B&M Starshifter in my Comet. Cheap and easy modification.
