Yes the rear seat comes out. There is a latch in the center that allows the seat to roll forward as you roll it forward have a look at the pins it rotates on. these pins come out and the seat can be removed. The bed depends on the size. The bed of a Bronco is about a foot shorter than a shortbox pickup bed

Thanks. yeah i might be able to get some sort of shorter bed or somthing.
Your question leaves me wondering; What is it you are trying to accomplish? What do you mean by shorter truck bed and why? Could you expand on that a little.

Good luck,

:)>-

oh you mean like an air mattress for campin. i thought you ment like a drop in bed liner or something. i dont know the answer but m curious too sinse my girlfriend and i camp alot. i would have to guess that being that its just air you should be able to blow it up and just push the tail gate gently and close it. the bed would just compress and conform to the space.

My wife and I used to use a double size air mattress in the bed just need something in the space behind the seats to put your head on. 2 kids and 20 years later and we do not fit so well that way any more. Be careful of the springs that are attached to the bed at the back corners of the back seat, they will rip the air mattress to shreds.

edit

I like the idea of a short box bed liner to use when hauling dirt, gravel and what not. Vacuuming top soil out of the carpet sucks, when it has been compressed by 1000 pounds of its friends.

I've seen these tent things that go over the back of the truck and over the roof all the way to the ground. This would let you keep the tail gate open allowing for the mattress to fit.
Check these out. They are pretty cool and not to expensive.
