Rear Fuel tank

I found 77 rear tank at a swap . I was told it was a 23 gallon. Talk to a supplier and he said it was an after market. But looking it over very closely it has Ford part # on D7TA-9002-KB. I know the 7 in the letters is the year and 9002 # are for the fuel part section. The prolbem I have is what sending unit to order for it. Can anyone help me out with answer on what size it is.

77 only came with a 14 gallon rear and if it had the side tank, it was 8 gallons. How tall is the tank? A 23 gallon tank is going to be huge probably in the neighborhood of 20" tall.

HUGE difference between the two. Any 20+ gallon tank will look similar to the one pictured there, but ALL stock tanks will look like the stock one there as well. Sounds like you have a stock tank to me if it has a Ford part number on it to begin with.
