power steering broken?

the steering wheel got turned while it was in the locked position...now power steering fluid sprays all over the engine compartment...

Where is it spraying from? One of the hoses, the unit itself, or the steering box? To me it sounds like you blew the high pressure line. If it is from the unit, then this may be the time to think of doing a Saginaw conversion.

if its major yea i was thinking conversion too, at first i thought it was coming out of the part where the little dip stick was, i didn't expect to have power steering but i still do and i am not quite sure where the leak actually came from...it was a pretty massive leak

Have you tried looking at it while someone else starts the truck?

nope but i sorta hung out the window with the hood open and started it then turned the wheel from lock to lock...saw nothing

original leak was bad enough to completely cover the brake master cylinder and all those plus harnesses and that whole area i figured i would have seen something....but the leak is probably smaller now which means your right...while someone else is messin with it
