i was wondering what everyones opinion on power brake setups are? right now i have no power but am looking to upgrade. i am planning on upgrading to front disc maybe disc all around at a later date, i am just not sure when i am going to get to it. the parts have been setting in the corner for 6 months. was wonder who is the best place to get a set up from (quality and cost) and also what extras i may need to get so i can get it done in one shot. also are there any kits that can be used in all three applications (drum/drum, disc/drum, disc/disc)? any help would be appreciated.

All the suppliers will "walk you thru" that.....JBG, Wild horses, Toms, Duff, etc.

Booster, M/C, & proportioning valve are the additions.... & I believe the valve is the only variable

Brakes are funny. I have been running the stock M/C (drum/drum) on my disk/disk set up for over a year, before that I ran it on disk/drum for 3-4 years with out problems or any needed additions. I know of a couple guys who couldn't do that for some odd reason. Best bet though, is if you have the money, do the power upgrade right away when you do the complete change over. As for where to get what, I would say that the best rear disk kit is from BC. They use a Cadillac set up. I don't know what the others use, but I know that someone uses the Lincoln swap & it is harder to pull the axles than the Caddy set up. As for the front, just google an "early bronco front disk brake conversion" and you can find everything you need.

Personally,I would swap the front discs in first, maybe its me,but I could never get mine to stop real even.I know there are guys on this board who have no problems with all drum,I believe that you are much safer getting rid of the front drums ,A.S.A.P..It might also be the constant slick and icy conditions that bring this out more than where you live, but I honestly feel your much safer with front discs. As far as the proportioning valve,I bought an adjustable one ,when I did my front discs. This valve is good for disc/drum or disc/disc,with an adjustment.I still don't have a power set up,but my brakes stop real firm and straight, with 35 inch tires.

i guess that pretty much answers that question. i guess i will have to dig the front discs out of the corner and get them on. hopefully my stock M/C will last long enough for me to get the power upgrade ordered. i guess my other question now is there a difference in the external adjustable valve as opposed to the one that is built in that JBG offers? and also since i am going to dive into the disc swap has anyone problems when they do the ford swap. as far as i can tell i am going to have to do is take one nuckle off and put the new one on and maybe extend the lines. any help would be appreciated

which valve did you get. there are to many to choose from. another question did you just bypass your original (remove it) or did you put the new valve in the old system?
