poping noise

hey when I make a turn in my 92' bronco I hear this lound popping or hard thumping noise any ideas? And its not just on sharp turns either it does it on all turns.

You may have apartially engaged hub. I had that once and before I figured out what it was, it got real interesting in steering once in a while. It would all of a sudden pull hard to the side with the screwed up hub.

Take it apart, clean and lighty **** it with axle grease. That is if it isn't broken but you won't know that untill you open it up. The noise could also be generated by a combination of bad u-joint and a hub problem. So you have to get in there and trouble shoot it.

front end or rear end?? if front then like u were talking about possible the hubs if from the rear then u might be looking @ maybe the spyder gears in the rear end

ball joints shouldnt cause a popping sound.

i'd check your auto hub first, seabronc's idea makes the most sense. get into the hub and see if its severly worn or not. if it's broken, consider swapping over to manual hubs. you should not need the optional conversion kit, depending on the year of your truck. installing them is exactly the same as re-installing your factory autos. if your auto hub was grabbing, check on the condition of the ujoint that's inboard of the defective hub. it might be irregularly worn also
