Hello all,

I am new to Bronco's and I need a little help please.

I was just wondering if I am in over my head w/ this.

I just purchased a modified 68 2 seater.

Body is a little rough but frame and all drive-line is solid.

The last owner fabercated the fire wall to fit a 351 Cleveland.

The powertrain is scary strong but I am a little worried about axels and drive-line if something goes wrong. Is this a good one to restore it or should I just leave it as a mud buggie?

thanks for any advice.

When I clicked on the image, I only got the top half of windshield and door, maybe its me. What is your intention to do with it?

Wellll...,

Fr. what I've seen & heard., that's a result of improper location of the new(er) eng.

Are those 289 badges on the fender original..?

In some cases., a V/8 is swapped in for what was a I-6....and they used the I-6 trannie & adaptor.

This causes the eng. to sit back to far & run into the firewall. NOT a good move but, it's all fixable. :D/

Measure your transmission length & the length of your adaptor...& come back... :-B

from what I can tell it looks like the original three speed on the column was replaced to a 3 on the floor. no adapter and I have the original tranny as a spare. I am new to Ford's so as of now so I am not exactly sure what tranny I have bolted on. It also appears that the floor was modified to accustom the bigger powertrain. I would like to keep this rig but I don't know if all of the extra things done to this oldie would be too much of a headache. thanks for the input guys!!

"...looks like the original three speed on the column was replaced to a 3 on the floor."

This is fine and one of the first mods folks do.

"no adapter and I have the original tranny as a spare."

There's always an adaptor... it's between the transmission & transfer case

---OR--- R/U saying it's no longer 4 wheel drive.?

If there's still a transfer case...measure that adaptor. (Mating surface to mating surface)

(same for the installed trannie)

Take a pic. of that "orig./spare" trannie & post it....

"also appears that the floor was modified to accustom the bigger powertrain."

This does sound like a bigger trannie was wedged in there....

(Need a pic of that floorboard shifter as well)

If you want/need help...the more info you provide, the better the help. B)
