I am not extremely happy with the ford white and the red two stage paint I shot on the truck and was thinking of going to a higher quality possibly dupont paint. Want the rugged look which I am hoping I can achieve with a gunmetal type paint. My two questions are

1. Paint is extremely expensive (especially for a good metallic) I am only painting outside of truck, under hood, and inside of doors. (no inside, no dash, no engine compartment, no top). What is the minimum amount of base and top coat I can get away with using, using a 1 to 1 reduction and four to one in the top coat on the early bronco.

2. Does anyone find removing panels gives a better result, i.e. doors, hood, tailgate, fenders, etc. or if shooting paint on entire rig with proper prep will yield similar results.

Thanks for any help or advice.
