I have a 1990 full size Bronco, with everything stock except the radio setup. After about half an hour of driving, when sitting at a light or whatever reason I have my foot on the brake and not moving, the oil pressure guage drops from about halfway between low/high and way below low. After it hits L on the guage, the engine light comes on. Before I switched out the pressure sensor, it used to try and stall the truck, and now it just lights the engine light. I have a few leads on what to do, like adding "Motor Honey" when I change the oil and up the idle just a hair.

My question's are - is this a common problem?

Is there any way short of replacing the seals and/or bearings to solve this problem?

That is a common problem. If you have already changed the sender unit and it still does the same thing, then you probably will eventually need to do the things you mentioned. I have a similar problem and have been able to put temporarily put off rebuild by going to 20W50.
