Thank for the feedback on my previous topic. I am now trying to find out how to quite the back window and latch up. It is very noisy going down the road, over little bumps it make a high pitch chirpy sound. I tried driving it with the latch not turned tight and it does help a little. Do they make kits to tighten or cushion the latch mechanism? It seems to have decent rubber and is in great shape though there is only one bumper on the lid where it comes against the support rod when closed. Also, do they make something to tighten up the spare tire set up. It also makes quite a bit of noise when going over bumps.

Thanks yb

I have made progress on the noise. I simply took the plates off of the lid so that I could take a look inside at the linkage. It looked very dry and somewhat rusty so I liquid wrenched the linkage and went for a quick lap. That got rid of my annoying squeak which made me quite happy. I still had a good rattle on the spare tire hangar so I took an old bicycle tube and wrapped the arm where it goes into the latch to the point that it was snug when closed. I also place a rubber bumper in front of it to come up against when closed. I also noticed that one of the bumpers was missing where the lid comes down, I was lucky enough to find one in my rubber junk box. I am down to one little rattle which is not too bad. It only rattles when going over little bumps. I am thinking it is the linkage inside the lid? At least I can now drive it without cringing or ducking from embarrassment :)
