We haven't done a lot with it so far. We have put about 100 miles on it so far just cruising around town and such to show a few people, and even drove it to work a couple of times, but soon found out that either the Fuel Filter or the Fuel Pump has began to slowly deteriorate. This will cost us $25 from Napa, and we hope to be able to get it ASAP. I got myself a 4WD as well so that he and I can go out on a wheeling trip before my training at work ends, and I get a different shift then him. As of right now, we are a little strapped for cash (refinancing the house) so our toys will come as soon as we have enough. He wants to wheel it at least once before we start tearing it down for a total restoration. Our future plans include:
Keep it as stock as possible:: We want to clean the interior like crazy, and possibly even just replace it with a kit that we found online for it, however, we do not want to change anything. We also want to keep the engine in there, however, do a rebuild so that it may better run for a very long time. We also plan on replacing the tree to be a normal stick rather then up on the dash, however, that will be the major change.
Paint it all one color: If you could not notice from the pictures (which I will post again), there was one color of green, and then a darker colored green on a few of the quarter panels. My dad would really love to have it blue with a white top, which we will also repaint due to mainy scratches.
Engine Rebuild: As I already said, we want to rebuild the engine so that A) It will run in top form so that we won't have to worry about any problems and B) because it has plenty of miles on it (somewhere in the 200K's is what the salesman said to my father).
A little bit of a lift: It has a bit of an ass sag, therefore, our remedy will be a bit of a lift in the rear as well as a slight one in the front.
Some external "clothes": Such as some bumpers, a couple of recievers in the front and rear for a winch, and some better looking wheels.
Of course, this is just a basic list of the things we will do to it. I'm going to be helping him out quite a bit, and documenting it as well so that we will have an archive of pictures to show off to anybody willing to look. As far as pictures go, I still have the same three from my introduction. I will be sure to take a few tomorrow to show our main trouble spots as soon as I get home from work, for it is too dark at this time to take any.
I hope that we will be able to get this porject underway very soon, because it will be my first restoration, and I am very excited to be included in the process.
As promised, here are the pictures again:
