I have looked in shop manuals, online in several places, VIN decoders, etc. and I cannot find a mention of model u153. My VIN is U15GLR42602. My glove box plate shows a model U153 and the DSO is 533351. Can anyone decipher these numbers?

The "vin" on the "title" should match the glove-box tag. (poss. someone replaced glove-box door)

U-13 was a ******* Roadster. U-15 is the "wagon" or hardtop equipped.

The pick-up had a diff. number.

LMS Truck has the #'s breakdown & so does JBG.

Yours sounds like it's a U-15 .....the rest of the letters & #'s are mfg. plant, eng. type, etc. :D/

I have info on the other numbers like axle, engine, etc. The glove box and title do match, the specific number I am referring to is under model on the glove box. It is u153 and everything I have seen only shows U140, u142, u150, U152 for pickup and wagon both standard and HD package. Earlier years, had other model types for ******* doorless model, but they were discontinued. No year has a U153 that I have seen. Also have not seen source to decipher DSO # with this many digits 533351. Any ideas appreciated.

U153 designates the trim package associated with your wagon....

I can't remember where, but one of the Bronco sites has a decoder

that will tell you what level of trim you have/had.

If I remember correctly, the "3" should designate some type of upgrade

package, whether it be a Sport, Ranger, or Explorer package etc...

My U152 has zero trim options, although it has front and rear factory posi's...

Well, I don't know about the 3 in that number, but U15 = Bronco 4x4 MPV (Multi Purpose Vehicle); G = 5.8 liter engine. There seems to be some letters or numbers missing from that vin number, what year is it?

Good luck,

:)>-

Okay, we are getting somewhere with the U153 model designation, anybody have an idea about the DSO code of 533351. This is a 73' Bronco by the way.

http://www.thesnake.classicbroncos.com/photo3.html look down at the bottom for trim info. No 5.8 motors in any 66-77 motors from the factory only 302's. U14 or 140 is a halfcab pickup, theres one in my driveway
