If you keep up on the maintenance I think it should last. It's cheeper to replace a motor and transmission than to buy a brand new truck. Since Ford hasn't built Bronco's for the past 12 years, your eventuly going to run into this with any bronco you buy. Long story shot I vote to keep it!

Id say to keep it they make good daily drivers and trail trucks, just throw some 33s on it and limited slips and your good to go. Id give a complete tune up, and maybe look at a trans rebuild. Engine might need to be bored .30 over, i wouldnt go any bigger then that becuase it wont do anything for you.

leep up on the maintenance lift it 33's or 35's lock it gear it if needed and have some fun with it...if you were to sell a truck everytime it got high miles you'd be spending more in the long run then just adding on to your current truck...and the longer you keep your current truck and the more work you do to it the better it will be

Keep it. It's paid for. What's it costing you? $500 a month between insurance and gas? You can easily spend over that much by buying a new truck and have a $300 or more payment for a f150 or more than that for the 250+. Then you have all your gas plus insurance. KEEP IT. My .02 worth.

Besides the only truck I would get these days is a new f250 and they are to expensive for what you get. $30,500 for the XLT long bed club cab? You can spend it. I wouldn't. It's stupid these damn things cost so much money when you work out of them everyday and tear **** over the jobsite in mud and gravel.. Hauling trim and lumber and azek. It's like they price them so high they've forgot about the backbone of america, the builders, the tradesmen. We should be able to afford to have something as nice as that and not worry about it. I mean for crap sake the lawyer can have his whole family ride in it but I can't haul some 2x's to build a deck? Oh yeah I don't fit in that bracket at all. I'm in the poverty level. But I'm just dumb carpenter america. Auto manufacturers could care less about me and my needs by making their vehicles so expensive. I just have to get the rich peoples house built by the deadline so them and their high roller family can move in and smile falsely thinking about the fine job I (and my co-workers) did on making their dream home a reality. I'm done ranting. My day stunk. Good night rich american people. Hope you enjoy your homes because I poured blood sweat and tears into them.

Mods remove if needed. I thought I would rant. Maybe someone would listen to where I am coming from, the girlfriend sure didn't.

I can't complain at the moment, the Navy is taking care of me (I'm not broke and I have food on the table at least) but I know when I get out in a year I'll be with ya. That's the reason behind doing what I'm doing now. Got the money so I need to make my stuff last for when I get to the "real" world. Been there done that though. Used to cut firewood and always got into trouble because the highboy we had was a beat up old piece and it's life was spent taking us to the woods and holding all the wood we could fit in it and the police didn't like that to much. Can't they just leave us alone? All we were doing was trying to pay the bills. It was myself and my mother-in-law's boyfriend that did this to keep all of us on good grounds. And still never had the money to put the windshield back in the truck and at 4 in the morning while it's snowing in lovely Omak WA it was flippin COLD. Just had to drop my $.02 in there. Hope all have a better day today!

my insurance is about 90 bucks a month and it cost about 100 bucks in gas a month. the rest is free money.

i have no problems wat so ever with the tuck now. the transmission was replaced in 2003 with the previuos owner. and the motor still runs fine. starts up in a jiff. i gave it a compl;ete tune-up. im just afria dif i put all this money into it, it is gona break down afetr that and it wuld have been a waste of money. i have 33s stock now. i want to add a 4'' lift.

rc has one for 450...is it true i have to add longer brake lines and such for a 4''?

$100 a month for gas, @ 6mpg you are only doing about 50 miles a week!

At that rate she should last you another ten years.

I *was* going to go against the grain and say that if you are going to put a fair amount into modifications, I would consider getting a '96. That's the last model year, and it has the newer OBDII computer system.

It really depends upon the overall condition of the truck and what you plan to do with it. Overall Broncos are not that expensive with the newer $3 and up per gal of gas prices, and it may not cost you too much to upgrade to a newer truck.

OTOH you have a newer trans, and the other parts that wear out can be replaced, if you really want to keep her. Regarding miles... it depends a lot upon how the miles were put on her: highway.. or city. And how well she was maintained.

OK.. so after reading this, I guess I haven't helped much.

Just throwing thoughts out.

thanx for the help. and actually since the new additions i get about 10-12 mpg now. i drive about 100-150 miles a month. i dont drive alot i live in a small town. nothing watso ever is wrong with the bronco except for the starter.

im going to keep her and add a 3'' rc lift for 350 bucks. it sounds good to me.

instead of buying somethign for better gas im thinking of buying maybe a 2wd ranger 4cyl.?

somethign small...for about 600 or 700 dollars.

i think ive pretty much gotten the help i wanted. thanx yall

keep it!. ill never sell my bronco, even though the wife thinks its junk:).

bryan, $500 a month in insurance and gas, thats insane. i really hope you guys arent paying that much. Ive got a 99 grand cherokee insured full coverage, my 89 truck and a sports car plus 3 motorcycles and i dont pay $500 a month. i think for the cars i might pay $500 every 6 months but not even that. for 3 motorcycles less than $200 a year on top of that. I dont commute that far so that might make the difference.

sorry things are so tough for you guys. i dont make enough money to afford a nice new car but i get by, most of my stuff is old, antique even:)

Let's see, 25+ years and still going strong. Yes there has been a lot of time plying her with TLC, but worth every minute of it. I figure that if I put say $2000 a year into her in maintenance and care, I somehow come out ahead of going in every 3 years and putting out $400+ a month before gas and insurance.

My answer is keep it!!

:)>-
