Pick up a can or two of "BBQ Grill Paint" from Wally World, Home Depot, K-Mart, etc. This stuff is designed for high temps, and is very durable, not to mention cheaper than the automotive stuff.

I use it to paint all my exhaust components, and it works very well. It comes in two colors, flat black and silver.

Take your current exhaust pipe and have it sand blasted and then paint it with high temp POR paint. I have this on my mustang exhaust and it's help up great.
